Regardless of the type of lawn mower a person owns it will have to go through one or more lawn mower repairs at some point of its life, even top manufactures and models that worked perfectly in the beginning will require a tune up of at least one part.

One can prevent serious lawn mower repairs if maintenance is done on the machine regularly. In most cases lawn mowers repairs are due to a lack of attention to the machine.

But by doing maintenance checks every winter before storage and every spring before use as well as cleaning the underneath of the mower by scraping it and using and air compressor to clean the engine, air filter and carburetor you can avoid a number of repairs.

Prevention is often better the cure. Because lawn mower repairs can be costly, maintaining your machine is far more cost effective then neglecting it and then running out to purchase new parts.

That said, nearly all mowers will need a repair at some point. This may be a small repair such as replacing the blade or larger like repairing the small engine that powers the lawn mower. This may include replacing a clogged fuel filter, which is a common reason for why the lawn mower wont start, stalls or dies during use.

Lawn mower repairs are often tricky for the average user because in most cases the actual problem does not show up in the part that needs to be repaired but rather somewhere else in the machines.

For instance if your spark plug needs to be replaced it could be because there are snags in the carburetor. In this case, replacing the spark plug may help but you will also have to get the carburetor looked at. So lawn owners are often playing doctor to their lawn mowers as they try to diagnose the disease behind the symptoms.

Looking at every symptom or problem and trying to decipher what could be the cause is the best way to get to the root of the problem. Consider the problem. Is the problem that the lawn mower vibrates during use? Is it that it wont start?

Often, a lawn mower that will not start may be out of fuel or the ration of the fuel mix may be incorrect. By ruling out each cause related to starting the mower you can find the solution.

However, the lawn mower owner may not be able to get to the bottom of the issue or they may find, during the process, that the mower needs a serious repair. In each case it is best to call in a professional.

Professional lawn mower repairmen, not only fix major repairs but they also help lawn mower owners figure what is wrong with their lawn mower. The owner can then get some quotes on the repair cost and determine if fixing it is the best option or if the lawn mower has seen better days and a new mower is in order. Lawn mowers are essential for keeping a healthy lawn. And repairing your lawn mower can help prolong its life.

Lush green lawns add to the beauty of the house along with adding colors of nature to life. If you are proud possessor of attention grabbing lawns then you should be worried about its maintenance too. Good lawn movers cannot maintain the charm of your lawns but can also improve their quality. A zero turn lawn mower can assist you achieve this goal with much ease. Once you use this lawn mower regularly and in a proper way, you can clearly see the changes taking place in your lawns.

Zero turn lawn mowers are those kinds of special lawn mowers that can turn right around i.e. 180 degrees. This means these riding mowers have the capability to go right around in a full circle of 360 degrees. With this tool, you do not need to do the cutting and edging of the lawns manually. So, these devices offer you a freedom from spending hours on your lawns and yet not getting the wanted result. They can ably help you take care of your lawns in the best possible manner.

A zero turn lawn mower works on the similar pattern as of a tank or bulldozer. Like tanks, these lawn mowers can move right back on themselves. Thus, the mechanism in all these three machines is the same. The only difference is that a lawn mower uses its rear wheel instead of treads used by a bulldozer to control its movements. In a lawn mower, you should be aware of the technique to vary the direction and the amount of the drive power that is applied to the rear wheels.

These two rear wheels of these lawn mowers are linked to a hydrostatic transmission. This is used to transform the engine’s power to produce hydraulic pressure. In turn, this pressure is used to move the mower and control its direction. The older versions of the lawn mowers put the power of controlling the speed in the hands of the operator. He used to maintain the direction and the speed. However, nowadays, the newer versions are mush more advanced. They use a joystick or handlebar or a steering wheel to control the mower.

Zero turn lawn mowers were originally designed for the purpose of industrial use only. They had a fantastic maneuverability, which was used to maintain huge golf courses and landscapes. These tools were considered highly reliable for industrial use. However, now, these are available for private use also. They are available easily and also at affordable prices. You can secure one for your personal lawns and give an all-new shape to them. In addition, the new lawn mowers work on advanced technology and have a better battery back up. So, you can rely on them for your precious lawns.

Now, if you feel like owning a zero turn lawn mower then you have plenty of choices. You can search the Internet and find out the details of the manufacturers and suppliers of these lawn mowers. Some of them also offer you the facility of ordering online only. Buy a good lawn mower and see your lawns becoming more and more beautiful! You could make your neighbors jealous with your lawns by spending on a good lawn mower.

Neuton Battery-Powered Mower Emerges As Style Statement, Recognized For Form And Function In Museum Displays

Vergennes, Vt. What does the Mona Lisa have in common with a lawn mower? They are both in museums, of course! Throughout the summer, the NEUTON[R] battery-powered lawn mower will be the subject of breakthrough exhibits at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. Both displays have recognized the NEUTON[R] battery-powered mower as a symbol of industrial innovation in the creation of green solutions alternatives to conventional every-day products.

The NEUTON[R] mower can be seen in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry as part of Wired Magazine’s Wired Homes display and in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Botanic Garden’s “One Planet - Ours!” exhibit throughout the summer and beyond. The two sites, which credit not only the NEUTON’s environmentally sound operation, but also it’s innovative and easy to use design, will keep the machine on display through January 4, 2009 and October 13, 2008 respectively.

“From the beginning, the design inspiration behind the NEUTON[R] was to give people a product that delivered uncompromising performance and one that looked good doing it,” said NEUTON[R] Customer Relations Director Tom Hughes. “There’s no question that mowing your lawn with a NEUTON[R] projects a statement; we’re proud to have that statement recognized as a significant part of the larger green movement with these two exhibits in Chicago and Washington.”

The NEUTON[R], which Clean+Istry called “a lawn mower that you won’t mind parking in the living room,” is available in two configurations: a 14 in. cut and 19 in. wide-cut model, both of which can be charged on less than 10 cents worth of electricity. It springs to life quietly, with the simple push of a button, relegating the back straining pull-cord and associated belch of fumes to a distant memory. Emitting about half as many decibels as the traditional gas powered mower, GQ attests to its neighbor-friendly appeal citing it as “the quietest mower on the market.”

To request information on the NEUTON[R] Mower, visit online at www.neutonpower.com. The NEUTON[R] Mower is also available in two sizes at select lawn care retailers, starting at $399.

If you have a good understanding about lawn mower parts, you will have an easier time with maintenance, as well as keeping your yard always looking green and fresh. However, understanding these parts means knowing the differences between an electric mower and a rotary mower.

In some cases, pull cranks will need replacing, which is the start up mechanism for several models of lawn mowers. In understanding lawn mower parts, you will also need to have knowledge of its engine type, which will be four stroke or two stroke cycles.

Of course, not all lawn mower parts are easily found. Spark plugs for gas mowers are relatively easy to come across and could be the answer to starting issues. Air filters or stale fuel are also generally easy to replace and could be a cause for concern in the operation of your mower. Lawn mower parts that are defective or not working property can affect the overall quality of its lifespan.

The blade is a very essential lawn mower part that you need to be thinking about. The function of the blade is to cut your grass. The health of your lawn will depend on the blade quality. If you have a dull blade, it will result in choppy looking grass. A tool, such as the angle grinder, could be the only thing you need to get those blades sharp again. This tool not only helps your lawn, but your wallet as well, keeping you from having to buy blades when the current ones are dull.

Replacement versus Attachment Parts

Every few years, every mower on the market will have to have some replacement parts. You could be the most expensive and popular brand, but the fact remains that eventually they will malfunction because of use. Lawn mower parts are generally in required in two instances. One of them being simple use of the machine, the other is the result of damage.

Many people confuse attachment parts with replacement parts. You used replacement lawn mower parts when you need to keep your mower working. When you want enhancements to the mower, then you purchase attachment parts. Clipping bags are the perfect example of attachment parts for lawn mowers, which keeps you from having to rake your entire yard.

A great way to find the parts you need is to look through catalogs, specifically ones that are designed specifically for your brand of lawn mower. If the part you need cannot be found in a store, you might want to consider shopping online or contacting garden warehouses.

The kind of lawn mower parts you will need depends on what type of lawn mower you own. Electric mower parts will not be compatible with gas lawn mowers and vice versa. Gas engine parts will include blades, belts, and spark plugs, as well as choke cables, battery leads, throttle, and mulching kits.

When looking for electric parts, you will enjoy the prospect of finding parts and the maintenance is a great deal easier. You will need to look for connectors, switch tools, winder spares, cables, fuse holders, and fuses.

Lawns look good if these properties are well-maintained and carefully manicured regularly. But when these properties are taken for granted, and then lawns are expected to give the front yard of your home a horrible look. Weeds take control of the lawn and unwanted grass take residence in the area as well. If you are the type of person who puts a premium to properties like these, then surely this kind of situation is un-imaginable. Now there are many ways in order to reclaim the lost glory of that lawn. One way is through the use of a reliable lawn mower.

Lawn mowers are available in the market and these devices are just the right help that you need in order to bring back the lost beauty of that once-well maintained lawn of your family. The lawn implements like this that you can find in the market are available in many types, sizes and for different applications. One such type of mower that can be helpful is the mulching lawn mower.

This type of lawn mower is just one of the many types of lawn mower that can be used in the garden. But where is this type of lawn mower used and what are the uses of this kind of lawn mower? If you love lawns, then check what this equipment can offer. This is the perfect mower that you need when mulching is needed in a particular lawn. Mulching is that process when the blade of the mower is crafted and designed to cut and the re-cut these grass leaves and clippings into much smaller pieces. Then these leaves are then left in the area to decompose.

This type of technique is very much recommended since this can reduce the need for more fertilizer, since the decomposing grass are used as the fertilizer. The grass that remains in the lawn usually contain nitrogen and this nitrogen is the one that helps fertilize the lawn. This is the reason why a mulching lawn mower is so popular and much popular for the environmentalists out there. And this is what makes the mulching lawn mower very different if compared with the ordinary ones.

The ordinary mowers that are used in homes often just collect the grass in the box that is attached to the mower. The grass that has been collected is then disposed on the heap or dumped in a can to be taken to the nearest landfill. But with the help of the mulching lawn mower, grass remains in the lawn.

As mentioned the mulching lawn mower also offers free organic lawn fertilizer for the lawn. The decomposing grass clippings serve as a fertilizing agent since these clippings produce Nitrogen that can be used by the leaves for their growth. Nitrogen is essential; when a garden or a lawn is deficient in Nitrogen, then the lawn will be prone to a number of lawn diseases. If a mulching lawn mower is used instead of the usual mower, then there is no need to rake the extra clippings of grasses that remain in the lawn.

Trying to start your lawn mower after a long winter can be very frustrating so you should read our advices. Performing a few routine maintenance tasks before you store your lawn mower for the winter can save you time in the spring, prolong the life of your lawn mower, and save you money over the long run.

Even if you have already put your lawn mower into storage for the winter, a few simple maintenance tasks performed before starting your lawn mower in the spring can be very beneficial.
Wash and dry your lawn mower after the mowing season is over.

A power blower can be very helpful in removing grass and debris from the underside of your lawn mower and other hard to reach areas. If your lawn mower engine is air-cooled, use a stick or wooden dowel to remove any residue from the cooling fins. If you have a lawn mower with a water-cooled engine, check the coolant level and fill the reservoir if needed.

Clean the radiator cooling fins with a strong jet of water. You should also drain the fuel tank and replace the fuel filter. The air filter housing should be cleaned and the air filter replaced.
Remember to check the spark plug(s) for corrosion and wear.

Don’t attempt to clean the spark plug if it is showing some wear. It is cheap and easy to replace the spark plug. Be sure to remove any debris before removing the spark plug and by using a bit of anti-seize compound when you replace the old spark plug, you will ensure easier removal next year. Clean and lubricate the throttle linkages and the choke, and apply grease to the mower deck and all the fittings.

This will be easier if you remove the mower deck and you can sharpen the blades while the mower deck is off. Sharpening the blades after each mowing season will give you a better cut next year and save you the trouble of having to sharpen them in the spring.

Clean the battery terminals and replace your old lawn mower battery if necessary. You can help prevent corrosion of the terminals if you apply grease to the posts at the end of each mowing season. Change the oil in the engine crankcase and replace the oil filter.

You should also drain the gas from your lawn mower before storing it for the winter. During the long summer mowing season, remember to wash your lawn mower and remove any debris after the mower has cooled. Keeping your lawn mower clean will add years to its life and make routine maintenance tasks a lot easier.
Lawn mowing is a job most of us face each and every year.

A lawn mower that runs great and is well maintained will make this job more enjoyable and easier all summer long. A yearly check up for your lawn mower is the perfect way to prolong its life and keep it running like new, and your lawn will look great when you mow with a machine that is in top working condition.

Your lawn mower will perform at the highest level possible if you remember to perform these simple maintenance tasks each and every year. During the summer months periodically check the oil and the condition of the air and fuel filters. You will save money and your lawn mower will work great for years to come.

Riding lawn mowers become a necessity for many homeowners for a variety of reasons. For example, maybe you have moved and your lawn is just too big for a push lawn mower or health reasons have made a riding lawn mower an absolute must have. Whatever reasons you have for needing a new riding lawn mower, you should be aware of few things you need to know when it is time to buy.

First, you should have a good idea of your yard size. This will help you determine the engine size and cutting width you need in your riding lawn mower. As a general rule of thumb, if you have a lawn that is a half to one acre in size, you should get an engine with a minimum of 14 ? horsepower and with a cutting width maximum of 42 inches. If you have a lawn the size of one to two acres, you will generally need a cutting width of 42 to 46 inches and your engine will need to be between 14 and 16 horsepower. A lawn of more than three acres and you will need what is called a garden tractor. This will need a cutting width of 46 to 54 inches and the engine will have to be 18 to 24 horsepower.

Your next decision will be whether you should buy a riding lawn mower or a garden tractor. Both do the same basic function of mowing your lawn. However, the garden tractor can be used to pull a variety of yard attachments. For example, you could pull a tiller, disc harrow, a plow. You can even use a snow plow or snow blower with it. The garden tractor is perfect for those big mowing jobs as well.

Once you have taken care of the bigger decisions, the easier ones are next to come. You need to choose whether you want an automatic riding lawn mower or a gear driven one. Your choice should be based on the amount of obstacles you have in your lawn. A gear driven lawn mower would be good for lawns with little obstacles, while an automatic is perfect for those with many.

You can then choose mulching, bagging, cylinder types and any attachments you want with your riding lawn mower.

It is also important that you follow safety precautions when using any riding lawn mower. Make sure all potentially hazardous debris and other items are clear out of the yard. This includes pine cones, rocks, and other debris. Also, avoid allowing children to ride on or operate the riding lawn mower. Children can easily fall off the lawn mower often resulting in injurious or fatal accidents occurring. You should also avoid running the lawn mower next to anyone and make sure children are not playing in the area you are mowing.

By choosing the right riding lawn mower and following the proper safety precautions, you will be able to enjoy your riding lawn mower for years to come.

The lawn: for some its just a weekend chore, others however think of it as a great escape. Like it or hate it, it has to be maintained and that means buying the right lawn mower to get the job done. Which lawn mower you choose depends on the size and grass density of your lawn as well as your budget and the features you need.

Size and density: The size of your lawn determines the size of lawn mower as well as well as the type. Lawn mowers generally fall under two categories reel and rotary. If your lawn is 1,000 square feet (100 square m) or less you may want to choose a manual reel. However, if your lawn is large, consider getting a riding mower.

Grass density: You should consider the thickness of your lawn when buying a lawn mower. It will help you determine the blade and rotary type. If your grass is a soft bladed type, not Bermuda or Saint Augustine, then consider a reel mower. A plastic blade can be used for gardens where there is no risk of your mower blade being damaged by mowing a brick or large stones.

Catcher or thatcher?: If you want to catch the clippings of your lawn choose one with a rear mounting catching. If not, then consider a thatcher mower. It cuts the grass into small pieces and then blows them down into the lawn for a fertile covering.

Low maintenance: Most people want to spend more time caring for their lawn than their lawn mowers, so here are a couple low maintenance options for you to consider when buying a lawn mower.

-Rotary types are easy to operate and sharpen. They also tend to be inexpensive. -Self-propelled mowers are when the motor turns the wheel. These are good for slopes. Front-propelled types are easy to operate.

Go Green: Many people prefer gas mowers for their power; however, they pollute and are noisy. If you want a more environmentally friendly option, consider an electric mower. When buying an electric lawn mower find out if the cord length is enough for your lawn. They usually tend to be a 100 feet (30 m) in length. If you opt for a cordless model, be sure to check the battery length. You want to get through at least one mowing before it dies.

When buying a lawn mower also keep these considerations in mind. Can you maneuver it? This is important if you have to mow around trees or shrubs. Is it too heavy? Light lawn mowers are easy to maneuver and handle without comprising quality. How easy is it to start the mower? How easy is it to raise or lower the cutting height? Is there a switch to shut off the blade?

The idea of lawn mowers was thought up by engineer Edwin Beard Budding in 1830. Being inspired by other cutting devices, he invented the lawn mower for the purpose of cutting the grass of sports grounds and gardens. After Edwin signed his first agreement on 18th May 1830, the manufacturing of lawn mowers started in the 1850s. Since then, lawn mowers have very effectively been helping us with the cutting of grass.

Lawn mowers not only cut the grass, but they make our lawns look healthy and beautiful. There are different types of lawnmowers available in the market.

These days, commonly used lawnmowers are Robotic Mowers. To use a robotic lawn mower, you have to first select the particular area to be mowed, and then you need to mark the boundary of that area.

Manual or Traditional Mowers are another type of lawn mower, which are manually operated. This lawnmower requires the physical strength of a person to operate them. They are heavy in weight and need to be pushed in order to cut the grass.

Professional mowers are another widely used lawnmower. They have a horizontal cutter to give the best result, and are generally used for big areas such as universities, stadiums or gardens.

Clipper lawn mowers are used for mowing the toughest spots. They are equipped with scissors which have long blades. Clippers can be operated manually, as well as automatically.

Here are some factors which should be considered while purchasing a lawn mower:

- First of all, look at its weight. It should not be heavy; otherwise you will face difficulties in operating it.
- Check its safety features. Check that the blades are not exposed.
- It should start easily.
- Handling should be easy.
- If you do not have a very big area of lawn, then you can select a push reel mower.
- If your lawn is a big area, then use a professional mower, otherwise it will be a lot of work.
- For trimming grass, use a mulching lawnmower, as they cut grass to a very low level.
- Go for a self-propelled lawn mower if your lawn is in a hilly area.
- If you want to purchase a lawn mower for very big lawn areas, such as a stadium or garden, then go for a ride-on lawn mower.

Operating a lawn mower is not a difficult task. Almost every lawnmower works on the same principles. Most lawn mowers which are being used these days have an inbuilt motor. They have gears with an axle to spin the wheels. The basic function of the motor is to spin the blades which cut the grass, so as to make it easy to operate.

Manual or traditional mowers are very simple to operate. In a manual mower, the blades are attached to the wheels. With the movement of the wheels, the blades spin and cut the grass. Manual mowers are very heavy in weight, so quite a lot of strength is required to operate them.

Lawn mowers provide a great help in keeping the beauty of your lawn maintained. However, it is essential that you keep in mind the size of your lawn when purchasing a lawnmower. This will help you to be able to choose the appropriate one for your needs.
